Default Not so bad........

I always like a fresh start when I get a new-to-me bike. I've been feeling out my 94 and reading everything I can here to see what I'm in for.

I'm not much mechanical wise. I'm an electronic engineer. Nuts n bolts frighten me. I'll do my own oil changes and all though.

I was in a parade ride yesterday with my American Legion Riders and the only sport bike of course. The crowd loved the roar of the inline 4 and it was a great time. Even though it was 45 minutes of walking the bike and revving the snot out of it, she never misbehaved. Ran a bit hot, but no overheating.

Thought I was in for a struggle as when I got home, I decided to change the oil, flush the radiator, and check all the under-bits. It really wasn't bad.

I had a little CCT noise which I contributed to low oil. Heck, it was Bad oil. I think she was way overdue. Fresh oil, new K&N oil filter went in. It had a K&N air filter already so pulled it and cleaned it. (it wasn't dirty) Then I drained the cooling system best I could and refilled with engine ice.

When I looked at all the screws, fasteners, and bits in the garage, I thought I was gonna cry. LOL. She went back together amazingly easy for someone who had never taken apart a full fairings bike before.

Runs so smooth now! Clutch even feels better. Absolutely NO CCT noise. Idle smoothed out a bit. Temp barely climbs at all now. I feel accomplished!

(and then I went and re-read the thread of the guy completely rebuilding his cbr1000f and feel like a complete putz) =)

What did you do to your bike this weekend?

Good job! Fresh oil and coolant is always good. I run Engine Ice as well, I think it's worth it.
Putting on new Oury grips as soon as I brew some coffee! Just woke up...

mmm had my coffee and cigar earlier today cubetop! Where did you purchase your filter and engine ice and what part number is the filter? Bought Rotella T6 oil to change when I'm back home this week but I haven't found out which exact oil filter to buy...

Looks like Seb covered it. I just bought a K&N they had at Cycle Gear and there was a sale on oil so I picked up some Castrol.

I run genuine or HiFlo oil filters. Never had any issues.
