New Biker in the making
Well today was a big day in our house. Ben our lad will be 16 in August and we bought him his first moped. He's like a dog with 2 dicks, can't wait till he can take two the road for the first time. Here are a few pics of him and his ped.
Very good! I still remember riding round the back yard on my Fizzy waiting for the 'big day'....actually that day may have come when the olds went out shopping
. Jeez it was cool not having to pedal, all though on the Fizzy that was an option too

When you have a bike... (and you're me) everything just looks like a challenge. There was a bike shop about 5miles away where all the older guys liked to hang out on their cool street bikes, and I'd be dammed if I was gonna miss all the fun.
(that's where I saw my first new Hurricane!)And if I got in trouble and wasn't supposed to ride, I'd just push it about 100meters from the house before I'd start it so nobody would hear me taking off again (and if they did? Too late, because I'm 100m in front of you!!!

)This was around 12yrs old maybe? Got my first 50cc Honda at 7 or 8 (pic below)... then the XR80 was like a powerhouse at 10.
It was all downhill from there.

Trout,
Looks like you should sent that young man to the desert. Here in Nevada a 50cc and less scooter requires only one thing, a driver's license. No helmet required, no motorcycle license required, no insurance, no registration and best of all, you can pass on the right all the way past the traffic jams!
I have been thinking of getting a scooter, but my CBR and ZX-12R just look at me, shake their neck bearings and turn their face. I then take my lap top out to the garage and show them some Youtube vids of the Royal Bastards Scooter Club rallies. They may not be strong, but their is a buttload of dem scooterists. They are having a ralley about 4 hours from here and I just might buzz over on my CBR and say hi....
