Ideas on value of used GoldWing GL1500 '96
You'll get yours mate, it happens to us all; if we manage to hang around long enough.
Given all the bad sh1te that Fiona's mother is going through at the moment, it's very easy to say "It's a bast4rd getting old",
But I guess the flipside to that is that you're lucky to get old.
There is obviously a point that we all have to face someday in the future, and just chose the DNR option.
OK, so totally derailed thread, I apologize for that, maybe if we all get brave enough about this, we should chat about in the Saloon sometime.

Hey you guys, this was initially a serious request but was hijacked by fun and games, (which is always more fun then serious, lol)
But back to the initial question of the value, I understand it is all up to how much I will spend, but at least let me know if you think I'm on the right track in valuing the bike; book value minus the maint. costs.
To get in running order I am thinking I will at least need the following:
1) tires $400-500
2)Battery $100-150
3) Carb cleaning $200-350
4) Brake service $100
5) Airfilter $45-65
6) a big if if rust in tank $150 +
Are there any other service related issues that I have over looked for a bike that has been sitting covered in a garage in a humid area?

Bluddy Hell, nearly two years later and negotiations are obviously still in progress!!!
After this long I would think that the seller would give you the dam thing, just to get you out of his life!
Don't forget to mention that it needs a new sprocket and chain set (to replace the missing ones), there's another $300 just like that.
Incidental fluids; oil, hydraulic, anti-freeze, anti seize (esp. in a humid area) maybe another $50 - $100.
And of course your time to do all this stuff does have some kind of value. Even if you enjoy it, it still has to be minimum wage (which I understand is quite low in the US, and you certainly won't be getting any cash tips to boost your minimum while you're doing this stuff).

That list comes to $1300 or so, without the additions proposed by Teeks which could be another $300, so $1600. Add your own time $value. Probably at least $800 value.
So grand total $2400
Book value $3900 in tip top condition.
Difference is $1500.
I'd offer $1250- you don't even know if the rings are seized or there's water in the engine from the humid conditions or the rats have been in the wiring or the paint has corrosion from pigeonsh1t or any other invisible issues which may be expensive.
But then what do I know ?- I live in a wattle and bark hut..............
And I'd never ride a Wing instead of a 1000F over long distance.
