What a thread!

And I agree TK and Regen,

Sublime, considered, intelligent and beautifully argued response Woof

But I am a codger and have no friends

And love my 'old' CBR1000F Hurricane

And you won Knackie because of the bike and the fact that the CBR1000F members on the forum are supportive of all efforts to keep these bikes on the road and the people who ride them. Most of us have been around bikes, riding, rebuilding, repairing them for a very long time and it's not just the bikes it's also the camraderie that comes with associating with like minded people. This is undoubtedly the best forum I have been associated with and will support any Hurricane nominated for the ROTM

However, I also think we should take it easy on the ROTM for a short while - but still participate in the voting process for the little whippersnapper's bling rockets Some of them are very pretty.

That is all null and void if someone nominates a CBR1000F though......................

Cheers, SB

Looking forward to the naked SB run (not).

It's a high price we pay for collective deception, but of course it's SB that will have to pay the ultimate price.

Right now, I'm thinking a naked visit to a 24 hour servo would probably satisfy your very generous offer Seb.

I used to own a 24 hr servo in the student area of Dunedin, it was a reasonably regular occurrence for the night shift guy to get a naked student turn up to buy a Moro bar. In fact, if you time it right Seb, you may just have to get in the queue with all the other naked people.

All other suggestions will be gratefully received and considered.
And here is the high cost of Knackie's ROTM win............

All I can say is it was bloody hot and I may have been heat affected

Hey, just cos I ride a CBR1000F I dont have to be old (or do I). Still bloody good fun and reliable although the owner has cranky moments

Thumbs up January ROTM

Well sorry but I may have to nominate HenryM's ride for January - if he gets some pics up (HINT)
His old ride was in good nick - his new ride is a minter

So come on, not just cos its a 1000F but a bloody good nick bike - plus he's never been nominated before.

IMO.......
You guys should keep nominating the bikes that you like. That's the whole point, isn't it? One of two things will happen; more of the others will spend time here and vote for the other bike that they like or you guys will run out of hurricanes to nominate. As much as I personally don't like the same kind of bike winning each and every month, you guys come out in droves to support your kind. You shouldn't have to not participate, just so you don't win.

Lets just try not to split the cbr world down party lines. It 2 wheel vs. 4, as far as I'm concerned. We are all on the same team, right?

You are right Demon - I don't think there is/was the slightest intention of 'splitting' the forum - it's definitely all CBRs all the way............

We, the Hurricane people have to put a lot more work into our bikes to make them ROTM material. You notice the lack of that long list of aftermarket add-ons associated with the 1kf's. There's more to it, I think, than hanging a lot of bling on our bikes. Well, basically there's not much bling out there to be had for our bikes. Which, in my mind, adds the aspect of purity associated to the 1kf's entered in the contest. We have to work harder to bring the old gal's back to their original luster and beyond. That's why we applaud and support the Hurricane entry every time.

Also, I think the modern guys might all be of the opinion that their individual bike is the best out there, while the Hurricane members may possess a collective mindset that all Hurricanes are the best. Some better than others, you only have to look at my bike to see that, but even my old road dog gets its proper respect in our chapter of the forum

Being a Hurricane owner I will always support and applaud the guy who has to repair and patch cracks in irreplaceable ABS fairings, than the guy who opened his wallet for all of that bolt on, go-fast bling. Give me a new bike and and enough disposable income and I can build me any one of those other bikes. It doesn't take a whole lot of dedication and downright love of one's bike to click through catalogs. Hell, anyone with a computer and a decent set of wrenches can build that.

Give me the owner in a cold shed or garage in the middle of the night with a soldering iron, some filler and sandpaper. Or the guys rebuilding a set of carbs for the second time and sharing their knowledge. or the guy modifying a CCT to hopefully make all of our lives better.

If there are sour grapes over this, I say too bad. We here on the Hurricane page know more about what has to go into keeping our fine bikes on the road and in superior condition after twenty five odd years. Don't complain if we applaud each others efforts.

I know I will applaud it every single time

Sincerely,

Dave Cummings aka Wooferdog

Hurricane owner
Well said Woof. Did Valentino Rossi, Michael Schumacher stop trying to win cause they were winning all the time ? A different type of comparison I agree but why should owners of the mighty 1000F give up on trying to win ROTM just because the 600 owners can't win ? Stick it into them I say and make them work harder to get there themselves. Those who think the 1000F shouldn't be nominated need not vote if they feel that strongly about it.
