Default I always wanted

A tree growing through my roof...............................
Had a helluva windstorm, gusts over 70MPH - the Fiddlewood tree couldn't take the strain, and nor could my roof.
Roots took out the wall too.......
Oh well, life goes on....................

At least you and your family are safe and unharmed Shadow - that is the main consideration.

Let insurance take care of the rest.

Must have been one hell of a gust to have done that!

Take care, SB

Yup it was - I'd say over 70 MPH - maybe even more. Trees that are over 60 years old in our neighbourhood couldn't take the strain - place looks like a bomb hit it.
Made a noise at 03.30 though - you think the sky's falling
Thanks for the good wishes Bear - the repair guys are working as I type.........

Bad **** Shadow, as above, no-one got hurt, a reminder of why we pay insurance premiums.

On the plus side, I guess the firewood is now much closer to the fireplace.

Glad you're ok!! There's not a lot of things that are worse than a wind storm!

When I was a kid, we had a nasty wind storm come tearing through and it broke a big branch off of one of the oak trees that are over our house. It hit the ground, sprung back up and ripped a huge hole in the side of the house.... It felt like it literally lifted the house off the foundation....

Wow looks like you got lucky it only tore through a small piece of header. Take the money from the insurance and buy a new CBR. that is a cheap fix but you can crush the insurance with the right guy. My buddy could get the entire roof redone for that and if there is any water damage he can pad that bill up to 20k. and this is why we all get hosed on insurance.

Good to hear nobody hurt Pete - maybe the insurance numbers will have a little
overage with the contractor for some new rubber for the bike.

Damn, Pete. Sorry to hear that.
Same thing happened to my grandparents this spring. Big wind storm smashed half of their roof in.
Hmmm.. maybe god is angry at old people?
