That is actually quite interesting. Especially looking back at some of the vehicles I've owned over the years:
57 MkVII Jag : 104
63 Austin Healey : 30
Mk1 Cortina GT : 59
H2 Kawasaki : 8 (probably not a real surprise to be fair)
The UK has about 12x the population of NZ, but I bet we could beat every one of those numbers. No salt on the roads in winter makes a huge difference to vehicle life.

My current car, Lincoln Town Car, I am replacing this week. The frame is rotting away. It has 152k mi and they say you can get over 300k on them. I just replaced all the rotted brake and fuel lines on it.
My daughters car had rockers replaced 2 years ago and their gone again.
My ex-wife stopped by yesterday and said that when it rains, her legs get wet because the salt eat her floor boards out.
My utility trailer has flaking paint because I thought the roads were dry and pulled it 5 miles.
The list goes on but I do ride when it gets cold and have been trapped by them throwing salt. It eats up all aluminum parts in hours. I have owned a few bike with salt eaten side cases. If that **** ever gets into things like side stand switch or other electrical systems, you are totally f...........

Funny thing, there was quite a big Classic Car show in Dunedin a couple of weeks back.
The provincial newspaper had a full page of photos from the show, and there in all its glory was my old Mk1 Cortina GT. Different color nowdays but still the same rego number that it had when I sold it back in 1982(?).
Freaky coincidence.
