I agree with Mark... stock is better ...
The problem that allot of guys have when choosing what to do , is that street fightering them is usually cheaper, because of the way most of the pretty bits just get chucked to the chit house ...
Taking a bit longer to clean them up back to stock makes for a nicer looking bike IMO

I'm certainly the wrong guy to ask (just about the laziest guy here I'm guessing) but I'm scared for you.
For a brief moment, when I thought my kid and I were going to have a lot of time on our hands, I considered buying something to make a "rat bike" out of. I thought it would be cool to paint everything flat black with temperature resistant paint out of a plane old spray can, and wrapped the pipes in that cool gausey insulation stuff (see, that's how much I know) and then buy whatever cheap part I could find and not care what it looked like because it was going to be flat black and hacked up anyway. And maybe just a few giant chrome pieces here and there for a start contrast. A sleeper, that looked bad (in both senses of the word) and ran good. Very macho.
But then I laid down, and the feeling went away.
Take a look at what your artistic expression can do if you really let yourself go.

Have you got all the old parts .... or was she missing stuff when you got her ??
I would be cleaning her to death first thing in any case ...
With projects like this one , you would be amazed at how much more enthusiastic you will be if you spend quite a few hours just cleaning her up first by hand ...
( with her pulled apart I would not use a pressure washer or drown her !!)
Have you got a garage of any kind to do the work in ?
