I scrounged thru your past posts. Since it's a Father / Son project to my understanding, it'll hit the 25 year mark bout time y'all are finished. Word of advice though: Keep Every Receipt.

You'll want record of every part's origin to smooth the process.

In all honesty I'd look for a frame with papers. The current one may not be on the system there, but perhaps elsewhere in the US.....?
Is it worth the trouble to rebuild a bike and when it's immaculate again, to have to tear it down because of dodgy paperwork ? I'd be destroyed if it happened to me.
If you did it here, when you took it in for a Police clearance, they'd impound THE COMPLETE BIKE - you'd get nothing back.
I'd never take the chance.

Here in NY from what I have heard, the state police can run your numbers and clear the title with a form that you give to DMV.

I think most states are different with title issues. Some are much cooler than others. Regardless.... I would still just part it out.
I know it's a project to do with the kiddo and all, but there are a ton of other project bikes out there that are way less hassle and less money.
I'd sell the parts off for about what you have in them and try something else, but that's just me.
