Yes the 09 Fireblade had problems ex factory because there was a batch that had poor quality rings in them. They were recalled to the Honda dealerships and the problem was resolved.
But these are RR's - relevance to 1000F's ?
Apparently , if you soak your clutch in WD40 before you fit it , it extends the life of the clutch
One of our new members may take you seriously - noooooooooooooo don't do it !!

I guess I should have explained. This thread was about our F's being very reliable, compared to other models. I was surprised to see those two threads about the new engine having problems. So on one hand it might support the point of this thread, but on the other hand I felt bad that the top of the Honda line was having "issues."
Sorry if I was off topic.

In comparison with quite allot of riders , I prolly would be considered to be a bit hard on my bikes ...
I tend to give my 1000F lots of throttle and quite regularly ..
I use 90% of the rev range every time she hits the road and quite often...
Revs will not kill a CBR1000F ...
Having said that , I believe that aside from the odd factory runs that create occasional faults in some model Jap bikes CBR's included, they are bloody strong in general ..
I find that the CBR1000F takes a beating pretty well considering and would be certainly considered one of the best big bore sport bikes ever made ...
(OK, they have the cam chain / tensioner thing against them ) but even that does not stop them except for the extremely rare one that fails...
I truly believe that it is mostly the level that you maintain your 1000F is what determines how long they last or if they break...
Sure stunting a very heavy bike (any heavy bike) will kill it very quick , but the way that most guys that own 1000F's seem to respect the weight and power capabilities of these CBR's , they seem to last a longggg time more often than not...
If used only casually , I think they would definitely out last most other comparable sports bikes , no matter if they be newer model or not...
In summary , I will be much happier eventually spending prolly $2000-$3000 rebuilding my CBR1000F, complete with a full engine overhaul before I bother spending 10,000 on a newer model anything ...
These CBR1000F sport bikes have always been great , have always been proven to be strong , will always be seen to be great and will always be remembered as being great, for not only there looks , power , and all round bloody reliability ... but because a better all round solid sport bike is yet to be built that lasts like these old ladies...
yu gotta lovem
