We could make a fortune if we coupled that thing to an industrial laser,
Imagine being able to ride past a camera at 100MPH and watch it go up in smoke.
Smokey bacon he he he........

It's a good idea though.....................
I druther have a GPS and a laser warning unit. which buggers the gun - my mate has one...laser goes funny till you're out of range - size of a credit card.........yummmmmmm

I was thinking the same thing, except mine had a lazer guided gun... lol..
A hot laser would work better, though...

Post ..........Sharks with Frikken Laserbeams

Blinder M45 is one example .........but they are not perfect

You can multi shoot them and end up getting a reading .....technique !

Now how do I know that ...........I install all the gear in our cruisers
here at work, s'how ...........really there's not much out there and in any
case officers are well versed in dead reckoning a vehicle in motion .......
a two year old can figure that out very quickly if the distaance between
two points is already ascertained (i.e. a speedtrap)

But to load POI's (speed related POI's into gps ) or a prebuilt
such as the little Europe/UK one I found is neat.....s'why I threaded it.

If I had a database of POI's for camera's in say new york I could
as you rightly say load the data into my Garmin Nuvi and anytime
I git near one it'd let me know........just thinking out load

But I never need it ...........always a good boy ......well for the most part.
HD's ..........now that's my weakness..........just have to smoke them.

Because GPS based speed camera locators are legal in the uk & some of europe - you can buy the data already to load in to your GPS device from the manufacturers (tomtom & garmin)

Appx $40 per year gives you access to a permanently updated database of speed camera & speed trap locations.

Yeah they made radar detectors and stuff like that illegal a couple of years back , it's illegal to posses a radar detector now .

But here speed enforcement cameras are supposedly for 'slowing traffic down' , as opposed to 'generating income', so these devices are perfectly legal 'cos they're helping you slow down

They don't help with mobile camera units though

Very limited necessity here, things are a bit more liberal and the Big Brother
idea of having cameras all over the place is very unpopular and political suicide for any law makers that touch it..

You can load pretty much any set of POI's (Point Of Interest) into any
GPS these days , I have all the boat ramps, good watering holes, strip
joints ...hey what can i say, golf courses and really good chow houses
in mine ..........all loaded in from an MS Excel sheet ......easy as chit !

So if and when they do start planting cameras around here I'll Lat - Long
them and load them in too..........but I reckon that won't be anytime soon

True. We don't have any around here. Our local PD decided to mount a camera at a stoplight in town, and then hide and watch the monitor from down the street. That lasted a couple weeks, people got angry, and I haven't seen it since. Not really sure what happened, really..

In the cities, I've seen stoplight cameras that will send you a ticket if you run a light, but no speed cameras yet. They also have those "crime stopper" cameras above the sidewalks in Baltimore, but that's just to try and thwart gang violence and such.
They look like this..

I was just telling the missus about how I need to get a better GPS. My old magellan roadmate sucks. It was cheap, though, and has served it's purpose...

As far as laser jammers, I've been doing some reading and it appears that there are a few really good ones out there thart work well. Expensive little buggers, though...

Oh yeah.. where I work we have been looking at the idea but the City Council
are sure to nix it cuz it will cause all sorts of political ramifications for them
in an election year.........so we wait until the time is right.

Yeah Trout that wireless cam setup is exactly what we eventually plan to
add to my/our already large municipal wireless backbone network.
