Default Going for it

First I was wondering how many of you remember this.

Well when I first saw this commercial I knew I had to have a Hurricane. If you've seen some of my other posts you know I finally got a 1988 Hurricane 1000 about a month ago.
I have finally found someone who is willing to work on it. So I've decided to do a complete restoration on it. First lesson learned. Don't bother your local Honda dealership with questions about a 33 year old bike. Lesson two, don't tell your girlfriend you are planning on doing something like this. Most women just don't understand. Lesson three, 33 year old bikes can be a real pain in the butt. I still haven't been able to get the seat off to get the paint codes for it. But since it's red with a silver Hurricane emblem on the gas tank I'm pretty sure it's going to be red and blue. I have no idea where the gold rims came from.
Everything is supposed to get started next week.

Welcome to the forum. I’m glad you finally got the bike you have been dreaming of all these years. Post up some pictures of the project as it comes along. We love pictures.

I'm sure I'd seen that commercial but, unfortunately, I had no interest in riding back then. Very effective put down of Kawasaki!

Are you helping with the restoration or just having it done? And ditto to Hamlin's pic request, if possible!

Default Sorry I took so long to reply

Hey everyone sorry I took so long to reply. I'm having some health issues so it's slowed my plans down. To answer some of the things I've read in the thread. Thank you, finding this bike really was a dream come true. I'm not super good at turning a wrench. But I'm going to do what I can. I'm not having very much luck so far. I still can't get the seat off. I'm really wanting to get the paint code. I let her run a little today. You have to keep the choke cracked to get her to run at much more than idle, not sure what that could be. I think I find another blemish everytime I uncover her. I got a couple "before" pictures though. If anyone has any ideas of what the original color may have been I'd be glad to hear them. Also any advice will be greatly appreciated.

No worries! Hope you are doing better! I can't help you out with paint code but you might join and post over at motorcycleforum.com. There are quite a few old timer "regulars" who are still riding the sporty bikes and they are fairly active and helpful...

Default Thank you

Thank you, so far I haven't been able to get the seat off to get the paint code. I've tried everything I know. The lock is a little stiff. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Hmm, have you tried spritzing some silicone in it? Might need just a little help to release the latch...
