Default Frustrated Beyond Belief

Ok folks,

The weather has been pretty good in the UK for past week or so and I have had the bike out and covered about 500 miles.

I went out on the bike last night to the golf club to do some things there and to see if I could win the club lottery. Didn't win but never mind.

On the way back going down roads I know very well I scared the s**t out of myself or rather the bike did.

I normally trail my back brake a little into turns which I have been doing for years. Came to a nice tight corner and did my usual and nearly mounted the hedge. I couldn't work out what was wrong. Got to the next one and did the same again. I know these roads really well so wasn't sure what was going on until I nearly stood the bike on it's nose to stop at a junction.

NO BACK BRAKE!!.

It was MOT'd the end of last month with no problems. Brake has been working fine until last night. I have noticed a build up of brake dust on the back wheel but apart from that it has work perfectly. I even stripped it down and rebuilt it with new pistons, seals and brake pads before the MOT and it was working better than expected.

The worst thing is this happened late last night and I left for work on the rig at 5 this morning so haven't even had time to look at it. All I do know is that there are no drips on the garage floor but haven't even had time to see if there is still fluid in the reservoir, so not a happy bunny!!

Brake dust on the back wheel is normal Chippy, shows it's working properly.

Was it just the caliper that you re-built, or the master cylinder as well? Might be a clue where to look first.

Hopefully only a couple of hours work to get you up and running again.

Know what you mean though, I hate leaving my bike in a less than roadworthy condition.

I always expect broke dust on the back wheel, it just seemed a lot for the amount of miles I had done. I'm not a big brake user.

It was just the calliper that I rebuilt and your thinking is on the same lines as mine.

It just gets to me that when I come home I will have to sort it out and if I need parts then I will have to wait to get them and I can't order them now so they are waiting for me when I get home.

I'm sure it won't take too much to get it sorted, perhaps I should have done the lot while I had it apart and spent the time rebuilding the bike after its big overhaul.

Have you tried bleeding it again? Your issue may just be that simple of a fix.

Frustrating though it is, I'd hold fire until you can asses it properly.
