Formula 1 documentary
Tk and me have been sharing links on vintage auto racing. He asked if I'd seen this and I found a free link to it I'd like to share.
Some really disturbing, horrific footage, but also some great insight to the drivers' minds of the period.
Clark's on-board footage can teach us all what the quick line really is

Wow! Watched a couple minutes of it (will finish watching when I go to bed tonight) and it looks killer (pun intended).
I used to love watching F1, but quit watching when I watched Senna die on live TV...
Thanks for the link wooferdog

Felt the same way about G. Villineuve
Gotta love that comment;
"We didn't wear seat belts, we wore lucky charms"
Also quite astonishing how long it took to realize that the hay bales set out to protect the drivers from impact were actually killing them in fires.
It shows again how the accepted "best practice" of one time becomes laughable with the benefit of hindsight

Here's a Kiwi doco. They left Amon out of this one

This 1955 Lemans film is interesting

Hey Dave, just got round to watching that Le Mans doco last night.
Was always aware of that disaster, but was never truly aware of the magnitude of it before watching that.
As above, the benefit of hindsight just screams so many things going wrong all at once.
Have to also say though, I perhaps never really appreciated just how quick the old D Types were back in the day.
195 mph down the Mulsanne on skinny little cross ply tyres??
Yeah thanks, but count me out of that particular challenge.
And I just love that comment that "Hawthorne always wore a bow tie, even when driving F1 cars"
I don't think I've ever seen Lewis Hamilton wearing a bow tie, for $30 M to drive for Mercedes next year I think that should be a non-negotiable part of the contract

The LeMans doco actually provided me the best bio on Hawthorne I'd ever seen. In Grand Prix, his history tends to get a lttle lost between Fangio and the rear engine revolution
