Extreme fire danger today!!
Well, been down the market in Adelaide in the cool of the morning - 'only' 23 degrees C at 7.30 AM when I returned home, but today looks a horror.
We have an extreme fire danger day for the whole state - the driest state in the driest continent, and due to the wet winter, a huge amount of flammable growth in the forrests and along roadsides!! And Thunderstorms are predicted as well. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid 40's (~113 F) before the thunderstorms
Fire Weather Warning
for the North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral, West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Metropolitan, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East and Lower South East forecast districts
Issued at 7:12 am CDT on Thursday 29 November 2012.
Weather Situation
Hot to very hot and windy across central and eastern South Australia with strong north to northwest winds at 30-40 km/h generally, and 40-55 km/h at times ahead of a west to southwest change moving across the State during the day. Isolated thunderstorms near and following the change, becoming scattered in the afternoon and evening.
For the rest of Thursday 29 November:
Extreme Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts:
West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges and Yorke Peninsula
The Country Fire Service advises that fires burning under these conditions are likely to be fast-moving and uncontrollable.
Severe Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts:
North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral, Adelaide Metropolitan, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East and Lower South East
The Country Fire Service advises that fires burning under these conditions are likely to be fast-moving and uncontrollable.
The Country Fire Service advises:
Cheers, SB

Not hot yet. Used to live up in the Kimberly & later in the Pilbara not far from Marble Bar. That was hot. It was cool when I was there. A very mild summer. We had 43c or more every day except two. They were about 38 or 39. Must admit though. The older I get & the more weight I carry & the less fit I am the more I feel the heat. Glad I'm sleeping today & missing most of the heat. Hopefully I'm up just in time for the fireworks (thunder storm). Yep. The CFS ( country Fire Service) are on full alert today. When lightening strikes, fires follow.

Yep Bluebeard, just got back from Adelaide and it's hotter in the hills than town. Mt Pleasant CFS trucks are still in the shed, but there is a strong, very gusty northerly wind. Might not get as hot as predicted but the thunderstorm's still coming.
