Default 2015 Lake Gairdner Speed Week

Well Guys, Old Mate Kenny and I are loading up the Landcruiser and Camper Trailer tonight for an 0 dark hundred departure for the 2015 Speed Week on Lake Gairdner tomorrow morning.

Put on by the Dry Lakes Racer Association it's usually a hoot in the outback.

I'll take pitchers

Probably Amarula. And a goodly dose of WTF?, what could possibly go wrong???.

Seems to work for most people that go to the salt.

"I'll take pitchers "

Of Bundaberg I assume.

Oh ye of little faith!

We did drink a few beers, and the odd red wine, but basically a sober event. It was a marvellous few days. Temperatures at night near freezing in the desert and warmish days with a late afternoon southerly breeze. I'll post a few pictures later, but until then enjoy this little video I made this morning.

You have to watch to the end

You should have had a helmet on during your high speed run!

Approx how many people were there?

A little bit hard to say Jarvid. This year they had the pits about 3 km away from the start line and 3 camping areas used.

I guess I'd estimate 1000 to 1200 people - competitors and spectators.

The right crowd and no crowding - to quote the old Brooklands saying

I'm almost certain I recognize that reprobate in the Land-cruiser in the closing scene.

There are some very dodgy people around this Forum aren't there?

is that some itty bitty two stroke at the minute mark with the evel knievel outfit? Man I can smell the exhaust from here.one would think you'd get stung by the piston stinger pretty easily by revving one of those for longer...
Interesting contraption at 2:40 to say the least.
