Default Peg lowering - for the knuckle draggers around here

I bought a set of peg lowering brakets - aftermarket made for Blackbirds.

With a little grinding a philips screw driver and a couple of pliers I installed them tonight.

S far they sit great. I'll give them a try in the morning.

Nice, but why ?
You can drag the exhaust shrouds on the road before the pegs will touch in their normal position. If you want to drag the pegs, fit longer "hero blobs" underneath. Blackbird will fit I think. 5 minute job.
Added to the fact that you'd have to adjust the brake lever(easy) and the gear linkage (not so easy) to fit the dropped pegs.
I'm just not sure of the benefits ?

Tell you what the benefits can be Pete, recent experience you might say, with a Corbin
seat your backside is lowered your knees can become cramped after a couple of hours on
the highway ........ but the way I'm going to address this is through "MFW Vario Pegs" for
the 1000F from TwistedThrottle
..........for next years run. These you can set for
long trips then put back for daily short runs etc.

Just my two cents on the matter.

Thanks for that, Marc
I often do 700K's per day and am 6'0" weight 185Lbs (and a helluva lot older than you lot )and I have rarely if ever had my knees give me any trouble - despite having had cartilages removed years ago. I do sometimes get a cramp in my hip, but standing up now and again sorts that out.
I would suggest that no matter where you have the footpegs, it's the lack of movement in old knees that causes the trouble, not the height of the pegs, but that's just me....At least it's just arthritis, and not arseritis (which would be a real pain in the butt) hehe
I guess it's horses for courses.
Also, having ridden all my life the *** and knees are used to it.
And I'm a lucky old cuss

I'm 50, 6'-4" and my knees didnt fit down into the curved spaces inthe tank. After one day riding to work I can tell the difference. Two hours on the bike the way it was and I was way cramped up.

I don't know why, but this seemed to take a lot of the load off of my wrists too.

So far I have dne no adjustments o the bake or shifter. They are a little different, but quite functional.

Once I had the brackets machined the way I wanted them, they would be fairly quick and easy to take off two cotter pins.

Not all of us fit the 185 lb Rider Cookie Cutter I'd say and that's a fact.

Pete old son you weren't a tight head prop now were ya with the required
Tree Truck physique to go with it ....... I easily carry a 100 over you matey and
60 over when I was fit in my early 20's ......... so for me lowering these parrot perch
pegs is going to happen one way or the other ! they just get to be downright
uncomfortable for me putting down a long highway pounding stretch

It gets a bit odd looking riding around Canada on a sport tourer doing 85 +
with my legs dangling like some Harley Cruiser Chump !

Just how it is for me , not a criticism of anyone who may have a different opinion. !
