Default So I PlastiDipped My Helmet...

I decided to plastidip my helmet since I wanted a HiViz helmet in the first place and not a matter black like what I have but my friend gave me a good deal on the helmet so I had to buy it. This is my first time plastidipping and I definitely made some rookie mistakes but I've gotten the hang out it so next time it will come out nice and smooth.

Prepped up with tape and washed with Dawn and water followed by multiple wipes of Isopropyl:

Light first and second coats of white to put a base layer down for my color:

Heavier on the third coat:

Now after three coats of my HiViz color over the white this is how it came out:

And now everything peeled that I wanted peeled. (I definitely could of done a better job but I'm bound to make mistakes...)

As a bonus I decided to dip my chain guard since it was horribly faded:

Wow man the helmet looks really good! I'm interested to hear how long and how well it lasts, as I've been toying with a similar kind of idea. I assume you cannot make layered stripes with that stuff cause it'll probly grab the masking tape since it can be peeled off.

My advice to you would be if taping a design to first use a razor to lightly cut the rubber around the tape... Take your time and peel the tape slowly and you should be fine. I'd probably wait at the very least 4 hours before trying that. I attempted too soon and ended up pulling and stretching some of the rubber.

Now as far as how long it lasts? I have no idea how it'll hold up since it was my first try and I definitely made mistakes. I know the neon colors will fade in the sun so I need to buy something to protect it.

Great job, from the pics, it doesn't look like a dip.

Thanks! Haha yea it looks good in the pictures but it came out a bit rougher than I'd like. I'm contemplating dipping my bike in that color, black and white. Just would need to fix some scrapes on the body work first.
