Seat cowl
Ok guys, I'm takin my stab at this... got a second pass. seat from blueblurr on 600rr.net for 35 shipped, not too bad if you ask me... Gonna hit it with bondo and start shaping tomorrow, and then either fiberglass, kevlar, or c/f over that... basically whatever I can get my hands on... I don't think I'm going to paint it to match the factory, the paint for my RR is like 100 a pint and I need a base and a top coat cause it's a pearl... so that's 200 in paint alone... Anyway, we'll see how it turns out. keep you guys updated.
Might want to use what they call a "cheese grater" to get the rough edges down.
I wonder how bondo will work versus the dense styrofoam especially as thick as the bondo is. Is there probability it will crack being so thick or are you going to wrap it in fiberglass?

I'm just using it as a mold... I was going to just lay fiberglass over it essentially making it part of the seat cowl, but it's so freakin heavy and I had to put so much on to build it up that I'm just going to primer it and use it as a mold, pop the fiberglass shell off of it and then resin or plastic weld the shell to the plastic base... haven't quite decided which yet... I know resin doesn't stick to plastic so I might drill some holes in the base to all the resin to soak in.
it's the fiberglass filler... I've never tried it before but I had heard it stuck better to plastic than the regular... it's green and then when mixed with the red filler it looks like a giant turd!!! but anyway, I found it was easier to work with because of the long strands of fiberglass in it... it didn't tend to run or sag like regular bondo so I built up the massive layer pretty fast... as opposed to having to wait for a lower layer to harden with regular bondo.
lol u got the basic idea it will come out good just gonna take extra time , i made a undertail for my bike last year basically the same way , looks like you used long strand fiberglass filler it is a pain in the *** , also u will prolly notice when u sand it u will have big pot holes , next time or even after u sand that down try short stand or fiberglass filler it is just like bondo all the fiber glass is ground up , still very strong and alot easier to work with
