would it be okay?
would it be okay to run 5w40 synthetic in my 96' cbr 900rr?? went to walmart and couldnt find 10w40 and i sell it at my work but its 10 dollars a quart.
i dont have synthetic in right now cause of the leak but wanted to make sure it woldnt leak anymore and i think my clutch is starting to slip because of the non synthetic oil.
Your clutch shouldn't be slipping from using non synthetic oil. The clutch will slip when it's shot. (although "energy conserving" car oils will make it slip, but I've never had the ***** or a good reason to test this theory for myself...lol)
A 5w40 will be a bit thinner when cold than a 10w, but won't hurt anything. Tons of people (including me) run the 5w in rotella, mobil 1, etc. etc.

yeah the only rotella i could find was 5w40 ha ha i should have gotten it. oh well the fairing isnt that hard to take of ha ha. guess ill change it and see if that helps ha ha. could just be my imagination. bout the clutch. just dont want to put too much into the bike.
Yep, that's what I run... the 540 blue bottle. However, I'm leaving work and going straight to wallyhell to grab 2 of the 2.5gal bottles of the regular white bottle 1540. I've always run it in my thumpers and my CBR. I've been trying to get the blue bottle synth for the CBR here lately, but there's nothing wrong with the dino rotella either. (especially @ $25 for 2.5GALs.)
They BOTH carry SH AND JASO-MA approval.

well i just did a oil change on my bike and i put in the 10w 40 valvoline synthetic blend since they didnt have the fully synthetic. Is it ok to keep that stuff in there? or should i clean it out soon. Does it have additives in it or energy conserving properties in the oil? Please advise. also please shoot me in the right direction on what oil to get next time i plan on going full synthetic on next oil change but they just didnt have what i was looking for in stock.
