I have only had my cbr for not even a month yet, and noticed about 10 days ago it will not start while in gear (kick stand is up and clutch in) i noticed because i stalled out taking off from a stop light, went to start it back up and had to put it in neutral. I am pretty sure it wasn't this way when i bought it. Any ideas?? its a 2001 929rr

 

Probably the clutch switch is going bad or needs adjusted some so it makes contact. Look for a switch at the lever. I wouldn't bypass it altogether if its bad for obvious reasons.

 

Another vote for clutch switch. You could temporarily jump the switch to test if it works (though I would rather take the switch off and check for continuity with an ohm meter).
