Default What would you use... ?

I've got my woirk cut out for me. Yeah, I got a deal and everythings straight - just needs a HELL of a cleaning.

Anyone care to share what they use to get CAKED ON RUBBER off of your swingarm and shock? I'm taking the swingarm off tonight which will make it much easier to clean but I have no idea what to use...

Mineral spirits, kerosene, dynomite?

EIDT: Sigh, Photobucket is down... pics to follow.

I use mineral spirits to clean all the crap off my swing arm then I use "mother's back to black" to clean it and mnake it pretty. If it's too much for mineral sprits I use brake and parts cleaner.

Mineral spirits should work fine. Is the swingarm coated aluminum? maybe repeated use of certain solvents could be bad for it, but I am just guessing at that. So maybe 'bug and tar' remover if you are as paranoid as I am.

edit: wd-40 too.
