What Stage Dynojet to use?
i have a 97 CBRF3 600, i just put a two bros exhaust on it,its a little sluggish between 3 & 5k, after that the main jetdoes ok & VOOOOOOOOM.... was thinking i need a jet kit, gonna buy a stage 1 dynoJet, is that good enough though... i read that most stage 1 are for the stock setup.. But i heard that changing the exhaust will lean it out.... need to rich-in up my ratio,, its mostly stock far as i know, stock airbox, stock headers, air filter--dunno.gotta check. It has the C-series 2 BRO slip on pipe.. any advice would be much appreciated!! thx!!!!
For just a slip-on, you usually won't notice any difference in performance. Since you did, your bike may have been running on the edge as it was. You may just need to richen up the pilot jet, which would be free to do. there is a transition between the pilot jet and main jet, and you may be a little lean on that transition. Which also may require you to raise the E-clip one notch to get the needle for the main jet moving to a richer setting faster. But Im only throwing it out there. Without actually seeing the bike, its very hard to say for sure. But you could potentially just adjust your current carbs without a kit.
If you do decide to buy a jet kit, just call dynojet and ask them. Im sure the stage 1 kit will be fine since its all in the settings that you use, not just the kit itself. But they may suggest a different kit. The thing with carbs is, it all depends on where you live. Different elevations and temperature ranges will dictate quite a bit. Dyno jet surely knows what set up will work best for your area. A guy riding in florida is not going to use the same set up as a guy riding in Minnesota.
