Since my first oil change! They changed to the CJ-4 approved formula right around then. I've only had the bike a little over a year Like a lot of people, I probably researched the different oils ad nauseum and after many discussions over at http://www.bobistheoilguy.com I decided on the Rotella T.

Well, thanks to you guys I finally understand the various specifications, the API/ JASO requirements, and how/why heavy duty industrial oils are manufactured to higher standards than regular automotive motor oils. Rotella sounds like the smart choice. This was interesting, while looking at their site I discovered that they've included motorcycles in their application chart:
Many gasoline engines, especially the hard-working engines of pickup trucks, sport-utility vehicles (SUVs), minivans and motorcycles.
