Went down...
So a pot hole got the better of me..It popped out of no where and I went down..relatively softly, which means I only hurt my pride. The left hand mirror broke off, but I'm going to buy a new one tomorrow.
My main question is about the stator. It's now a little scratched. Everything seems fine. I looked the bike over, couldn't find any problems at all. I remember hearing something about replacing it if it gets scratched, but I don't know if I should.
Should I? What's the worst that could happen?

Sorry you went down. As for your stator cover... If it aint broke, don't fix it...seriously. Leave that scratched cover on there unless its cracked/broken. Just clean it up really well w/ some mineral spirits & inspect for cracks. If just scratched, leave it on there. Rack it up to battle-scars & experience.
If there's something really wrong w/ your stator, you'll know soon enough...but if it runs fine, just leave it.
Good luck...

Yes, the stator cover is easy to change. If you change it, you want to make sure you get a gasket as well.
However, just like gotcbr said, if its not broke, then don't fix it. Broke being leaking oil or cracked all the way through at the top or something where it is not fully sealed. But scratches are just that, scratches!
When I went down, I went down hard and long and mine was scraped really badly. I replaced my stator cover because I was unsure of any leaks because I only rode the bike back home and didn't ride it for another few months (by that time I had fixed everything including replacing the stator cover). I also decided to replace mine because the scratches were really bad. You can see mine in my albums.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do and sorry to hear that you wend down. Glad that you are alive and that everything is mostly okay.
