Weird Issues with 2002 600 F4i! Need help!
I recently bought a 2002 Honda CBR600 F4i and it's giving me some serous problems!
It's always the same. I turn the key switch ON it does the RPM roll, turn the killswitch ON the "eeeee" fuel pumping sound and then press the electric starter it goes "tick tick tick tick" but no sound of ignition, does that make sense?
Soon afterwards, the display starts going out, eventually the ticking goes out too and then altogether nothing happens. Only FI light is on, neutral N light is gone too.
I charged the battery up afterwards and it worked fine for two weeks.
Weirdest thing of all is, if I go after a day and turn the key ON it does the startup routine perfectly and I pressed the horn to see if my battery's dead but the horn was sharp and loud as it should be and then it just goes into being dead and gives like a dum dum sound.
I just need someone to give me suggestions as to what might be wrong with it. I'm highly determined to fix this by myself with your guys help.
Thanks!
Sagar!

You need one that measures volts and ohms (resistance). Don't go overboard on one that does tons of other stuff as they can get expensive. Simple and cheap is good enough.
What Demon said is spot on. If you spend more than $20.00 US, you've paid too much. You don't even need a digital one, and analog one will work just as well for everything you will ever do on a motorcycle.
I've used multi-meters for the past 35 years on a very regular basis and rarely use all the functions that are available on higher end models.

Here's one:

Put "testing the charging system" in the forum search box.
Do you have the multi meter yet?
Connect it to the battery. Start the bike.
Should see 13.5-14.5v @5000 rpm
If not, unplug Regulator/rectifier (in the tail on the frame) The connector may be melted. Check the resistance of the 3 yellow stator wires. You should have little resistance between them and no connection from any of them to ground.
Replace the R/R if it's melted or if the stator tests good
Replace the stator if it tests bad, and retest. You may want to do a R/R anyway...
