Default Water in my gas tank question

I am in the middle of painting my bike and, idk why, but for some reason I couldnt decide whether to completely remove the fuel cap and stuff the opening or leave it in there. I ended up taking it off and then decided to just put it back in , put painters tape over it and lock it down with the key, but i did not put the three bolts back on .

So after the primer and base coat I washed all the pieces (to get oil from my hands off) to prepare them for the next coat and I am unsure if any water could have gotten in the tank when I washed it. But I am pretty sure that just sticking it in there and locking it seals it off. WOuld rather be safe than sorry so I figured I should ask.

If there could be water in there, is there any good way to get it out other than twisting and turning the tank every which way to get as much liquid as possible out and then letting it evaporate?

The cap should seal the inside of the tank. The area between the outside and the filler has a drain that runs out the bottom of the take. If you want to drain the tank, use the petcock. If yours is the vacuum operated type, give the vacuum port some vacuum. Or, take out the petcock. A few drops of water in there wont hurt anything. A full tank of gas should dilute it enough.

Thats what i thought...i had my CBR tank upside down and every which way until what i thought was a small amount of negligible water still in it well after installing it... a few days later it was running then cut off and would not start. checked the plugs and they did not smell much like gas. Turns out the there was water still in the pump so i just got the pump and working electrically vial a battery until all the gunk was gone.

A few drops is different than a pump full. Fuel in the tank won't dilute water in the pump, lines, or carb bowls.
