Default Valve clearance question?

Hello, I have a question regarding the valve clearance on my 06' cbr 600 f4i. I checked the clearance on all the valves the other day and all were dead on except one intake valve on cylinder 1. Using the minimum thickness feeler gauge I was able to fit it between the lifter and the came lobe but it was slightly tighter than it should be. I could move the gauge in and out but with more drag and force than the others. My guess would be that another thousandth of an inch would make it feel better. My question is: With the clearance being so close to spec is it worth re-shimming? My personal opinion is its probably not but I'd love to hear others thoughts on this. Also, the bike is at about 11,000 miles. Thanks guys!

It depends on the service limit and how tight it is.

If the service limit is -+.001(which is what it generally is) - and that's where you're at, then it's absolutely fine - you're within spec.

However, if you're .003 out of spec or something - I'd sincerely think about re-shimming.

These valves tend to tighten up, not loosen. So that valve is going to get tighter if anything. So it will go even more out of spec most likely.

I think you're due for another check at 16k or something right? I'd check it again, and I wouldn't guess. You need to get feelers that are smaller so you know exactly what your clearances are.

Thanks for your comments Conrice. I'm going to go ahead and reshim that valve. It's just the one intake valve, all the others were perfect. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Back to surgery! Thanks again!

So why would the valves tend to get tighter over time instead of more loose?

Becuse it is wering down and it is wering down in the Valve Seat then it geting more tigth

If the clerence is growing it is vering down the cam or the valve shims than you have a big problem and have to ter it apart fast and look at cam and valve
