Default USB PORT part 2

Hey guys. Ive half fixed my problem. Now for some reason, I've wired a USB port to my bike like in the how to section tutorial and the problem that I have is that my usb port wont charge my phone, but will charge other devices live my digital camera. Anyone know why it will charge the camera but not my phone. If its to do with too little power supply, would shortening the cables from the battery/power regulator to the actual USB port give it a more constant and better power? thanks guys.

did you short the 2 data conductors together?

From what I've read, your phone is probably recognizing it is plugged into a data cable and is trying to negotiate a connection. With the 2 data carrier cables shorted, the phone is told it is just on a charger.

I read about this on Droid fourms, cause the Droid actually follows the USB Standard protocols, since you can plug it in and use the phone as a flash drive. Dunno what phone you're using, but it might be the same issue.

i'm just not an apple fan, sorry. i hate the way they regulate everything like a dictator. i feel like if i pay that much money for something i should be able to do whatever i want with it.

Pittsm, That is totally true and that is the only thing. I love the iPhone but I hate apple. Anyways guys, I got it to work thanks to adrenalin, It was the up/downstream data cables that needed connecting. Thanks again adrenalin,.

Besides the 5vdc, do you have the d+ and d- pins wired up as well? Some phones require a signal from those pins in order to work, otherwise you get the "unauthorized charger" displayed on the phone.
