Default Undertail Help

I put an undertail on my F4 over the Winter. I love the looks of it, but the road must hate it. I have put about 100 miles on the bike and now I have 2 chips already! Is there a clear vinyl sheet available to coat the undertail and protect it from chips? I do not have a hugger, but the chips are further back than the hugger would protect. What are you guys doing?

I haven't heard of anything but the hugger. I'm finishing putting my Rumble undertail on today I'm just about to cut the mudflap off now and the next mod will probably be a hugger for me, then the exhaust and PC. =)

I was thinking of seeing if they do some sort of clear rhino lining at all.

I was wondering about the huggers. I want a black or carbon fiber one. I see the black in unpainted black or painted black. I am real tempted to get the unpainted black and leave it that way. The reason being, it will be like the original chain guard and not chip like a painted one probably will. Has anyone put on the unpainted black and not liked it? Most of my chips (yeah, all two of them) are on the undertail directly forward of where the taillight would shine through on tothe license plate. So I am afraid that is too far back for a hugger to protect it.

Triax, I was wondering if there is a clear vinyl that would stick to the painted area like those clear stickers that they put your mileage on, when you change oil in your car. That way, a guy could clean or replace that when it get ugly.

There is a clear vinyl sheeting they use to protect some show cars and the fronts of motorhomes from rocks and debris. Don't know where youd get it, but it is available. But a hugger should help deflect rocks away from the undertail, just in regards to the rotation of the tire it should help alot.

Yep. They make vinyl that's clear. You lay it on the same way you lay on regular vinyl. Should help with chips and niches. You can usually go to any vinyl graphics shop to get it.
