Default Tyres

Im looking for a pair of tyres which will give good mileage and performance in wet / cold (English) winters....

Maxis Supermaxx ??

Mitchelin PilotSport?

Avon Storm ST ??

Its a 1991 CBR600F2 model,

Front 120/60 ZR 17
Rear 160/16 R 17

Im a rush hour warrier, not a weekend scratcher

I would go with pilot powers over the sports.

That is what I had on my bike before the Dunlop's and they were good tires. Ran over some bad stuff or they would still be on there.

I agree on the Pilot Powers. Here they are very reasonably priced and get decent mileage, I've gotten 7k on a rear tire! Just keep 'em inflated high and then deflate a bit whenever you're wanting to ride agressively.

I've been through three sets of Metzelers and I have had nothing but good luck with them. They have also been the best wet tire I have ridden on.

Yeah, stay away from the Dunlops. They're too soft, people's teeth get stuck in them when you run over their heads.

I didn't buy the dunlops, previous owner owed me a set of tires and got me the dunlop race set that came on the R6. They aren't to bad except having to warm them up at the start of my ride. would have rather had the power sports

just remember all tires need proper warmup before they perform at their best. I too agree with pilot powers. they are awesome in the rain. However, I"ve never had then in the cold, so I don't know how they stack up.

If you havent already, check out the forums over at superbike.co.uk Even though I live in the states, its my favorite overseas publication. Awesome articles and the best thing, the conditions they ride in, are the conditions you are going to see. Not to mention the roads. I'm sure the road grip is similar, but I bet tires that work over here, may not work as well over there.

PP's do well in the cold too. You just have to make sure you give em ample time to heat up b4 doing anything serious with em.

Have you ever considered the Pirelli Strada? I had the rear last me around 13,000 and They grip plenty well. I never had them slip on me. And the wet traction is great too. Oh, and they are cheap. I think I payed $130 for the rear
