Twin Engine Power
Hi all,
I know may of you guys may have no interest in this post but I am after a bit of your knowledge... I am currently building a project car.. at the moment there are 12 people working on this concept project.
Now, we are currently at the part of the design where we need to decide on engines.. We have been discussing all types.. V6 V10 etc but what to be different. The car is aluminium chassis, and the body will be fibreglass & carbonfibre. The who lot is expected to weigh 500kg max.
Here is what we need to hit:
0-60 as close to 4 sec
Top speed of as close to 200mph
I have seen a few articles about turbocharged motorbike engines and twin engine car conversions etc but would like to know if the above is possible with two new engines fully stripped and rebuilt with turbo or not or whether this in not the route to for us to take.
Cost is no issue.
Thank you.

RE: Twin Engine Power
im sure you can turbocharge any motor and make it run 200mph if you had the right turbo. i had a buddy throw a turbo on his civic, thing was fast as ****. until it blew up. im with L8x, let us know what you do. how about a Saleen S7 motor, if money is not an issue!! haha

RE: Twin Engine Power
Hire on a mathematician to do the physics of the deal -- specifically wind resistance as related to frontal area and drag coefficient. Staying in the realm of motorcycle engines the baddest ****** so far is a Busa motor with a Velocity turbo. I know a guy in Cleveland, OH that's currently pushing 700 hp at the wheel. That is not a misprint - 700hp. But ya gotta run race fuel and that particular set up must run skads of performance parts and water/air intercooler. So with that kind of horsepower and 1200 lbs or less and you'll easily do a 0-60 in under 2 sec IF you can get traction. Over 200mph is not as much a weight issue as it is a design issue -- drag and frontal area are critical.
