Default Turn Signal Switch Becoming Harder to Operate.

I've noticed that my turn signal switch lever is becomming harder to slide and push in. The signals work fine, but the lever just doesn't move as easy as it once did. Can the switch be disassembled and cleaned or is there a spray lube which won't damage the electrical/wiring components?
Tks

If your going to spray something in there you'll want to use a dry lube, like a graphite or even silicone lube would be alright. If your going to open it up then you could get some lithium in there , probaby last forever.

Probably wouldnt use Wd-40 myself , its a temporary lube at best IMO and tends to get sticky and goey when it dries.

YMMV

I'm always cautious (afraid) of opening something like the switch up without some knowledge of its design. Over the years I've had a few things go "Sprong" when opened and even if I could find all the parts, sometimes I couldn't reassemble it correctly. Anyone open one of these up? Any surprises?

Wd40 won't hurt anything. Its been used for situations like these for decades. Guarantee you that most any mechanic is going to put a shot of wd40 in there & work it a bit. Then, & only then, if there seems to exist further problem, will it be opened up for further inspection.

From your description, my starter switch started doing something similar doing 3 yrs ago. I put a shot of wd40 in there & its been fine ever since.

Hope it works out for you & isn't broken in some way.

Got home and gave it a shot of some RD50 dry film lubricant that I use to free up lock tumblers. Works like a champ now. Thanks to all for the advice.

I would use a very little squirt of wd. Some disagree, but i have never had a problem.

That's perfect, much better choice.

I own a machine shop so I've got pretty extensive experience with the long term effects of oils and lubes in mechanical applications. The original formulation of wd-40 is over 60 years old and it took them 40 attempts to come up with that. We've come quite a long way since then.
