Default Turn signal switch

Can anyone tell me if a 98 cbr900 turn signal switch(part # 35020-mas-670) is the same as an 02 cbr954(part # 35020-mcj-a00)

Without digging too deep into it, I'd say probably not.

Why's that? The harnesses look the same, as does the switch itself. The part numbers are different, but is that just because of the year?

The part number is why I thought that. I've seen other parts that span models that have the same part #.
