Default Trying to figure out why my cbr900rr won’t start

So I have a 94 cbr900rr that I bought from a guy who said had been sitting for alil while. I’m trying to start the bike and it’ll just keep cranking and white smoke will come out of the exhaust but it won’t start. Any clue? Any info would help!

Hi Omar, welcome to the forum.

When you say the bike has sat for a while, how long is that?

If it's months or longer, then you may need to do some work on the carbs and fuel tank before she'll start.

Assuming it's been a long time.

1. I'd drain the tank and add fresh fuel.

2. At the very least drain the float bowls on the carbs to get the fresh fuel into them.

3. Make sure the battery is fully charged.

4. Check any fuel filters for blockages.

In the long run, you'll probably have to remove, strip and clean the carbs anyway, but it all depends on how much of a rush you're in to get her started.

All this is assuming the bike has sat for several months/years with fuel in the system.

Cheers Steve.

It’s been months, so I’ll definitely get the carbs serviced. I’ve already tried letting the gas flow into the crabs but only one of the float bowls will hold the gas, the other 3 leak. So that probably means they need repaired huh?

If the float bowls are overflowing, the floats are probably stuck. Give them a few taps to loosen the floats. Stuck floats may be causing the carbs to flood.

Tyre technology has really moved on in 18 years, one of the best mods you can do to any bike is fit decent modern rubber, it transforms the bike especially in the wet.

my 1994 Blade is running modern Pirelli Diablo tyres and it just feels completely planted, the previous 15 year old Dunlop’s felt like riding on ice.
