Track racing costs
#11
Just to give you an idea, with the CMRA, I figure around $700-$1000 expenses per race weekend, tires and fuel (both bike and truck) are the highest costs, entry can be high depending on high many classes you run. That is after all the initial equipment costs.
If you are not really into competition, track days are much more affordable.

Track days, depending on where you go, can be reasonable. My friend and I went toe CMP (Carolina Motorsport Park) this past weekend. Fuel for my jeep (5 fill ups) and bikes round trip cost about was a little over $300. $240 for the Jeep regardless, $30 for one bike. Event costs were $135/day ($255 for both if you got both in advance). So far $270 + 255 = $525. If your tires had about 75% +/- tread, you didn't need them before the event and therefore, no cost. We will presume this. Did you/Will you camp? Then add in the fee for that, otherwise, add in hotel costs, minimum might be about $50/day. For two days, thats $100. Total now is $625. If you just did one day, then your minimum could be about $450 give or take. None of the previous figures include if you buy photos from the photog or have any suspension work (if offered at the track). Actual fun/thrill value is priceless compared to the cost. I don't do a track day often (three in two years) due to finances. But I had a blast at CMP and am planning to attend there again next year sometime (I hope). This is an expensive sport, regardless. Either way, have fun. :-)
