Default stripped my engine mount!

i was installing a frame slider bolt, and i guess i tightened it too much.

one i heard that noise, "chrkafo", i knew it was stripped.

from wat i understand, i have to tap/re-thread it?

do i have another choice?

also, the engine mount bolt is a 10mm, if re-threading, would i HAVE-TO go up 1mm? meaning to 11mm? or can i still keep it at 10mm?

lastly, can i still ride my bike?

assuming that you can still get the old bolt out!!!

have you tried? if you can't get it out, i'm guessing you'll need to drill it out. you'll need to go up in size.

the bolt didn't get stuck, it just won't go in past a certain point if being used with the frame slider...itll basically just turn in place.

but if i take the frame slider outta the way(making the bolt longer cause there is nothing in the middle now), i noticed that the threads for the engine mount are only gone in the middle of the hole(very small portion)....meaning there is still some thread left at the beginning and the end of the hole.....so the bolt goes almost all the way in, u think thats enough? or should i still tap it?

I have read of people that just drill through it and then use a bolt with a nut on the other end so if it happens again you just replace the bolt and nut.

it sounds easy but i don't get it, can you explain?

i mean its the engine case, and there is no other side to put a nut on?

This exact thing happend to me!! But I tried putting the bolt back in and it took! I think it had a little thread left. But from what I read, yes going up one tread size will work. My heart dropped when I heard that pop!

or you can get a Helicoil kit and fix it that way to.

in this case you 'can' try to clean up the thread with a tap of the same size. if that doesn't work then you'll need to go bigger. if option no. 1 doesn't work and you still want to keep the same size then you can helicoil...but that involves some drilling...muhahhahah

Yeah try that first. You might get lucky.
