ok I'm new to this board but not to riding. I'm VERY familiar with gear ratio and changing sprockets effecting the speedo because I stunt and always never use stock gearing anymore.
Here's my issue.
I bought a 05 1000rr. I noticed that the speed was off. EX: gauge reads 57mph when I really going 75 mph. My first thought was to check the sprockets cuz that had to be the cause of it. Well I checked them and they are 16 front and 41 rear. Correct me if I'm wrong but I did my research and that's stock gearing for this bike. Everything else on the bike is stock.
Also the rpm's seem to be pretty accurate. Its about 200-300 off from my buddies 07 1000rr which I would expect. And the mileage read about 1 mile off after about 100 miles.
So what else is there that can cause the speed to be off?

nevermind I figured it out. my guess is that the gauge cluster came off a 04. Apparently the 04's had a recall that year. There was a computer glitch that was making the speedo read 25% below the actual speed. Gonna hit up Honda and see if I can get a new gauge cluster.
