Default speed sensor checking

I have a honda cbr 98 900 CC RR and my speedometer and odometer only work 1 min every half an hour, I checked all the cables and gaugeseverything looks normal ,I was wondering if there is a way to check to see if the speed sensor is working or not, when i put the contact on, i have 5 V coming out of the pink wire that is feeding the sensor.I want to know how can i tell a faulty sensor dont want to pay for a new sensor if its not it. thanks

Default RE: speed sensor checking

Get the rear wheel off the ground and spin it with the key on. Your needle should move if the sensor is working
