Default RE: Solve my Helmet Debate

ORIGINAL: cbr1000rrick

When I put my bike in the ditch a couple years ago, I went sliding down the ditch face down. While watching grass, dirt and rocks going by my face' I thought to myself "this is kinda cool". If I wasn't wearing a helmet (along with my leathers), I don't feel I would have the same impression of the incident.
Hahaha, awesome. A friend of mine did the same thing sliding helmet-face down along a sidewalk. hahaha

As for the Rommate (who I'm sure by now takes it personally and will disagree no matter what logic we use...) I offer the following links to continue to support helmets...

http://www.michigan.gov/msp/0,1607,7-123-1589_1711_4587-13677--,00.html

Etc, Etc, Etc. I'll toss out more if that would help any.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, even when facts stare them in the face. Anybody can find anything they want to "back up" whatever they want to say, so it just goes in a loop. Sometimes, like in this case, one side just has a lot more evidence on it's side. I think seatbelts GENERALLY save lives, but there's always exceptions. Same with Helmets. I think they save lives and needless pain (I've been hit AT A STOP LIGHT in the head by a rock hard enough to move my head that was thrown up from a passing car), but I'm sure there's been an exception there too. Like that other guy a few posts back said about his gloves ripping at his skin after they'd worn down on the pavement some. They hurt him a little, but he'd been much worse off without it.

And... on that note! Here's another great idea!

I can't believe this topic is even being debated...but then again, people used to think putting mercury in hats was a good thing, hiding under a desk in a nuclear blast was a good thing, randomly killing people suspected of witchcraft was a good thing...

SIMPLE FACT OF LIFE: If a person feels a certain way about something (I.E. opposed to helmets) they will ignore the massive amount of data and evidence that contradict them and not only believe, but use for argument any single unsupported claim generated by unreputable sources that agrees with their opinion. He probably did read that somewhere...I also read today that horny school girls want to have sex with me right now. The drawback of the information age is that it came in a package deal with the misinformation age. Most of us are smart enough to see through the BS...your roomate isn't.
