Hi gang,
I recently noticed that my rear tire is not holding pressure. Over the weekend I checked the pressure and it was 30 psi - I checked the tire for any nails etc but could not find - so thought may be it is because I didn't ride in last two weeks. I inflate the tire back to 42psi and rode 30-40 miles and check the pressure it was still 42psi. Later in the evening I check the pressure again it dropped to 36psi and last night it was below 30psi. The tires have 5500 miles on them and I hate to change the tire.
Any suggestions?? and where do I take it to repair etc.??
Regards,
maakif

+1 on what Nauree said. Just watch close for bubbles anywhere on the tires surface, but also at around lip where the tire and the rim meet. Also, remove your valve stems cap and spray the soap and water there to make sure you don't a valve stem leak.
If it turns out to be a nail or something, I would just change the tire. People plug them and have good success with it. and theycan also remove the tire from the rim, put a patch on the inside of thetire....but I would change it, especially since your at 5500 miles on them. Your not going to get that many more miles out of them anyway. I guess it all depends on the tire, but at 5500 miles, my tires are looking pretty worn out and getting hard to safely make corner transitions.

i have a question. i have a small nail in my rear tire. its near the center of the tread. the tire only has about 1000 miles on it. i have heard that if you lug or patch that you shouldn't go over about 65mph. is this true? am i ok to repair the tire or should i replace it?

My F3 found a nail 300 miles on a new set of tires and I had the rear patched. 155 mph and I'm sitting here telling you about it.
