Slider/engine mount bolt
Having bought new sliders I managed to get the left bolt out no probs but the right side refuses to budge, the long reach allen key is bending, it's so tight.
Do I use a long bar or would I be wiser with just heating the bolt and sticking with the allen key? I'm worried I'll shear the bolt by using a long bar and putting too much torque on it! The head is a tad rounded as I tried a hammer slap on the allen key. |
Hi dec , might be easier to start the engine and get the block warmed up first rather than the bolt, and then give it a try:)

Cheers man. |
Also, try using an Allen socket instead of the key.

Heat and vice grips, or better letting a mechanic at it? Don't fancy snapping it... |
Hi dec, not sure of the type of sliders your putting on, but for the one that's still in can you cut of the hard plastic , expose the bolt , and try and run two nuts on the bolt ,tighten against each other , and see if you can turn it out?

I can saw through the plastic/nylon and expose the head, will try vice grips but getting wary this bike has possibly been down a slap and the bolt may be slightly bent, either that or rainwater has gradually seeped down and binded the threads, previous to my ownership. Either way, seemingly nothing is easy on a friggin 954:icon_rant: |
Tried cuttin the plastic away to reveal head of the bol, vice grips just eat around frckin head.
Im guessing heat is the last option. Is there a great chance I'll get it off that way, or no guarantee or is it mechanic time? cheers. |

Use a pipe wrench instead of vice grips.
