"Shop Materials" cost....
Relatively upset that after agreeing to take my bike in for major service that I was told after agreeing to the service that there was a $39 shop materials fee. I was told the charge for the service would be $426 + parts... after agreeing to that fee, and giving a $400 cash deposit, I got a printed invoice which also had a $39 shop fee tacked onto it. The shop also is tacking on about $17 worth of shop material fees to their fee to mount and balance 2 tires which I am having done in addition to the major service for an additional fee. I was told that the $39 covered such costs as oil and coolant disposal.... Not sure it costs $39 to get rid of fluids. And not sure what shop materials I am paying $17 for to get a pair of tires mounted.
The most I have ever paid for shop materials to have work done on any car I have ever owned has been $9.
I am pretty close to calling to say that I want all the services cancelled and want my deposit back. $57 worth of shop materials? I have had a day to think more about it and plan to call them first thing tomorrow mornig prior to them beginning any work on the bike.
Anyone else have any input on this one?
Edit: Took a closer look at the invoice and the $39 states that it is for waste disposal on the major maintenance.
Also, I will be keeping the tires they pull off- so they won't be disposing them.

Tire disposal costs money. If they replace the valve stem, that costs money. What is your major service involving?

buy/get the manual and do it yourself. All self respected bikers know how to work on thier own bike. Not to mention will save you a ton of cash u can spend on mods, and you will know your bike better.
