Default resurrecting 2004 CBR 600RR

I have a 2004 Honda CBR 600 RR w/ about 8500 miles. I just got back from Iraq a few weeks ago, and the bikes been under a cover next to my house for the past 1.5 years. Now, it will not start at all, put the key in, and I get absolutely nothing. No lights or sounds. How should I go about getting my bike back to tip top rideable shape?

Also, any tips on how to transport my bike if it doesn't start, would I have to tow it? Or is it worth to buy some kind of charger? Should I try jump starting it? I don't know much about bike mechanics, so you'll have to keep it simple.

Any advice?

i would start by draning all the gas out of it, and probably the oil as well, plus a new filter for both, they will be bad from sitting that long. then a new battery is needed or that one needs to be charged, you can jump it but i have heard makeing a car charge a dead battery it hard on the altinator, so i asume the same goes for bikes.

if you jump it use a jump pack or leave the car off (i have never jumped a bike from a car, so i cant tell you the exact steps, but i am pretty sure haveing the car on can over load it and blow it up)

you can transport it via a pick up truck. just get a 2x12 board about 8 feet long and have a buddy help you wheel it into the bed carefully. then use ratchet straps to secure it and keep it stable.

other then the battery dieing and the gas going bad it shouldnt be in too bad of shape as long as your cover kept out the water, its not like the wires are just going to disappear or disintigrate.

Doen't jump it with a car or you'll destroy your electronics. Cars put out way more power than bikes.

Leave the car OFF and you'll be fine.

f'ing awesome. these were such fast replies. I've d/l'ed the 2003 CBR600RR maintenance manual(I'm pretty sure it's the same for my 2004)from this site and I'm gonna get on jump starting the battery right now. Does popping the clutch work too?

Thanks fellas, I appreciate it. Any other advice will be appreciated as well. My friend (who doesn't know anything about bikes) has been starting the engine a couple times a month and letting it run for 20-30 minutes, but looks like that doesn't help much to keep the bike in good condition.

When I left, there was a lot going on so I didn't make any preparation for long term storage, I'm reading now that I should've disconnected the battery, etc...

If there is fuel and oil in it, go ahead and jump the bike and start it. There will be no problems. After you get it to operating temp, change the oil. Then go and ride it until it is almost, if not out of gas. Run new gas with seafoam in it. You should be good.
