What bike are you removing them from (for specific instruction)

Remove the seat (2 10mm bolts, F4i). The gas tank will have two bolts in front (Just behind top tree, F4i are 8mm) and two bolts under the seat (F4i are 6mm allen), you will also need to remove any plumbing, etc. that will be connected under the tank. Depending on the bike, you may also need to remove the intake tube covers (plastic covers on the left and right side of the tank)

Side Fairing removal on F4i is: (3) 5mm allen bolts near the front of the side fairings, (2) 5mm allen bolts in the middle; (1 on top and 1 on the bottom of the side fairings), and (1) 5mm allen bolt behind the brake and/or shift lever depending on which side you are removing.

Once you have the sides removed the rest should be self explanitory...

You will also want to remove and disconnect lights, signals, etc...

He summed it up for a F4i, pretty much the same for a 250RR.

I would guess that if you were having the fairings painted you would want to remove the lights first, but yes you will need to disconnect the lights to completely remove all of the fairings. Just disconnect them at the OEM connections and remove them from the fairings.

Yes, taking off the tank is that simple. Just reconnect it exactly how it was prior to removing it.

yup, that it. You might have to disconnect the turn signals in the front fairing but the headlight should stay attatched to the fairing stay bar. Put front fairing back on first and so on. Same with the gastank, reattatch wires, fuel line, and any other hoses, bolt it down.

Turn your gas petcock to off before taking gastank off, of course.

Should be right under the tank, both of them. 12-15 screws on the air-box for the air-filter and the gas filter should be sitting right there when you pull your tank off(small round canister with 2 nipples on the ends of it, and thats hooked to your petcock gas line). Pull it off, change it out.
