Default Regulator/Rectifier Issue?

Hey guys,
This is essentially a repost but I think I've narrowed down the problem to the regulator/rectifier

I'm having an issue with a CBR F3 '95

Basically,

When I start to go into first gear my bike will go to extremely low rpm's and almost stall. Finally, one day it stalled out (as in puttered out and died) when trying to pull out into an intersection, and when I put it back into neutral, it wouldn't start. The battery essentially was drained completely. It was extremely hot when this happened. as in 95 degrees with 105 humidity. (When the heat wave hit mid July) It was sitting in the sun for two hours before I tried to leave.

Reading up on the R/R people have said that it gets really hot normally so do you think the heat pushed it over the edge?

I've read the R/R is basically the one thing Honda screwed up with on the CBR series. I'm going to try Jawhn's R/R mod to see if the fixes the problem. Anyone else had any luck with it?

It would not turn over, I pushed the starter and nothing. So I had to push it to the side with a bunch of cranky people behind me

When my bike was running it felt like it was lacking power when accelerating.

I'm guessing its the R/R

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the reg, but to be sure to be sure, have it checked out or if your handy with voltmeter, do it yourself. Charge up the battery so you have cranking & running power & then make sure the bike has been running for a while. This is so that when the reg overheats & fails, you get a more accurate read out. Be aware also that a buggered battery will also give you the same sort of grief. Mine would push start, but bogged down (& back fired) & to add insult, I had to push it up my driveway.
I just had an after market (heavy duty) reg installed, so can't help with jawhns fix.
Its not only the CBR's that got (& still get this dodgy piece 'O' crap) But the VTR's & VFR's as well.
