Default Rear Master Cylinder Piston Stuck

01 CBR 600 F4i
Bike sat for about 2 years. Took it out today and front brakes were great but had no rear brakes at all. Fluid level is ok but it won't pump or bleed.

Pulled the MC, removed the boot and C Clip and the piston is stuck. Won't budge at all.

I've used compressed air before to blow out caliper pistons - one I never found again - but never a MC piston. Should I continue to try to rebuild or just buy another one? Any suggestions to help fix it are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

i say pull it off and yea apply air to it and shove it out . .maybe fill the caliper with some nasty concoction of atf with motor oil gas pb and brake and parts cleanerr and gum cutter . .i use that mixture for alot of things lol but then yea get the piston out replace nay o rings if necessary clean up the bore and the piston and slap it back together . .not before checking the operation though of course

Thanks,

Tried the brake cleaner first and no joy. Let it sit in p blaster and tried to push it out, again, no joy. Compressed air did the trick.

Now to go fix the hole in my garage wall... :0

LOL... Had the same thing happen when I was restoring my Yamaha except it was the caliper piston. Was about as stuck as stuck could be so I hooked it up to my compressor with an old brake line and opened the air valve. Loud pop and a whiz about an inch from my forehead left a hole in the screen window in my sunroom and never found the piston again.

The next time I rebuilt a caliper I put a metal plate between the piston and caliper. Works much better and I don't have to go looking for parts or buy new ones. :-)

at the very least i'd rebuild it, if not replace it.

If it seized once, it'll do it again.
