Default Really stupid question

Hello everyone
I have a really stupid question. If you have followed my posts you know I just bought an 1988 Hurricane that I want to restore to it's original appearance. You all were kind enough to tell me the paint code was under the seat.
Now would someone please tell me how to get the seat off the bike. It has 3 keys and only one fits and twists the lock. I thought was going to be a simple procedure. Unlock and lift the seat. Well that didn't work. Is there another lever or something I don't know about.
Thanks

Not sure about your model but on mine I have to remove the side panels they cover a bolt on either side that has to be removed.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check on that. I didn't even think of looking for anything like that.

There’s an old thread somewhere on here about converting the seat to a quick release of sorts

Turn the key in the helmet lock. You might have to thump the back of the seat if it’s stuck

Thanks, I'll try that. Hope it works, sounds much better than having to take the flaring loose.

Mine got stuck once, it was a PITA to get off, but I found if I relieved the pressure on the lock by thumping the seat while turning the key it released. Then I took the lock off ,cleaned it out and greased it up and it's been fine since.

Im going to give that a try tomorrow. I'm dying to see what the original colors were. I sure picked a heck of a time to get a motorcycle. First it's cold then I just found out a couple days ago I have to have surgery on my cervical spine on January 4. So that means no lifting over 10 pounds, no jarring and wearing a neck brace, that rules out any riding, I don't think I'm even supposed to drive a car for 4-6 weeks. I thought maybe I could get some estimates to start the restoration on it if I can scrape up some money while I was out of commission. But so far my local Honda dealership or a motorcycle repair place here don't seem to interested in it.
