My 2002 cbr 600f4i makes a rattling sound whenever rev. any suggestions.

Where does the noise sound like it's coming from? We need a little more help on this one. I had an annoying humming/rattle on my 05 CBR600RR when I was cruising around town. Highway speeds, there was enough noise to hide it, but... it annoyed me every time I rode and I couldn't find it. I would ride around and place my hand in different areas to see if it stopped. It was the tank cover. I took it off and you could see two metal tabs with a hole in them for a rubber stop. Guess Honda or my shop forgot to put them in. I bent the tabs down so they wouldn't rub my tank cover... you could see where they were rubbing the bottom of the cover. Problem fix.

You'll have to determine where the noise is coming from and go from there.

 

i too have a rattle, but its permanent and unfixable. its the little marble in my head that i call a brain!

no seriously, like don stated above, we need to know where the rattle is coming from and under what conditions it can be heard. is it all the time or some of the time? did this problem just start or is it something that's been going on for a while? if it just started, how many miles are on the bike? does the rattle get louder or softer when you turn the throttle? the more info the better.

the only problem that ive heard before on the f4i is the cam chain tensioner. and i have no idea on the symtoms or sounds of this problem.

 

your best bet would be the cam chain tensioner. it makes a rattle when moving at about 3-4000 r.p.m .does it sound like it comes from the right side of the gas tank?

 

i had one comeing from the right side of my bike it was they "thingy" screwed onto the end of the handle bar to protect it in case of a drop ........needles to say rattle terminated

 

the rattle starts about 5000 rpm, it sounds like it's coming from the top front of the enginr. Theirs 11,000 miles on the bike it's been down once.
