random 12mm bolt on my slip on

There is a bolt pointing upwards on my exhaust near the slip on attatchment point. maybe 10 or 12mm. What is it for? What are the benefits to it being unscrewed? It is right near the rear brake.

That sounds like a plug to where the CO2 sensor would go in.
