Question on headlights
Hello all. I have an 03 954. Changed out headlight bulbs to led. The original lights are way brighter than the new led even though the lumen rating for the led is almost 3x brighter. Any ideas why the lack of illumination? This is my 4th bike, and I’ve done this previously on every other bike with zero issues. Wondering how I’m having a problem now. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks
Probably bluer beam? Human eyes are most sensitive to light-colour/temp of sun, about 3400K. Whenever you stray from that, light will look dimmer for same lumens output.
Also depending upon where you buy bulbs from, they're all lies. Have to build your own integrating-sphere and measure output yourself.

I'm not fan of LED bulbs as upgrades. They have to be designed into headlight assembly with their unique output in mind from start. For example, Prius vertically-firing LED headlight is one of best on market. Simply cannot match that kind of output by putting LED bulb into incandescent housing.
Personally, I've found that HID retrofits are still best upgrade. Tonne of light-output with controlled beam to put ALL light on ground and not waste any of it spraying up into oncoming traffic's eyes. Creating very dangerous situation for them and you. Here's one on Ninja 250
